This just in – We have in our possession the newly released DEVO “Tooth Tune” toothbrush - It looks great in the collection too! … read all about it:

“Brush ‘em good” – and encourage better brushing habits! – with this exciting toothbrush that gets you brushing with Devo’s tongue-in-cheek version of their groundbreaking song “Whip It!” Turbo-charged with improved sound technology, this cool toothbrush sends sound vibrations streaming from the bristles through your teeth – so you can actually hear music inside your head! Just press the button, wait for the beep and brush away! To increase the volume, simply increase your brushing pressure! If you brush well, you get great sound, and you’ll actually hear two full minutes of the song “Brush It!” that was written and performed exclusively for TOOTH TUNES by Devo!

How cool is that?

For those un-familiar with Devo, may I suggest Neil Sedaka? … Queen?

I had almost forgotten about this video

So waaay back in ‘91, a gentleman going by the name of MC 900 Ft Jesus* decided he wanted a video for his new song “Killer Inside Me”. So my friends Charles and Brian (w/ Alex and Joe) filmed it for/with him in and around Boston, part of which was filmed in a bar we all hung out at called “Peking Tom’s(above the “Peking on Prudential” restaurant on Boylston/Hereford).

The beauty of this bar was that it was slightly hidden from direct view – meaning you had to enter the front door of the restaurant and look for a staircase directly to your left (behind the register) to find it - even then, it looked like a private stairway to the office. So basically you had to know it was there before, very few accidently discovered this little nugget. For years, it was the best place to hang in Boston – Larry, Dave (and a constant change of other characters), the Jukebox, Pinball, second floor views (great in the Winter!) overlooking Boylston and the convention center – amid a sea of red booths with a little bar tucked below yet another set of stairs that went to the 3rd floor office above. This was of course all above the restaurant, on the first floor, that had the best (hand made by Mrs. Liu) Peking Dumplings (raviolis?) this side of the Mississippi. All the indoor images in the video are done at Peking Tom’s (2nd floor) … I’m in the background somewhere?

*The name came from a sermon by Oral Roberts, in which the televangelist claimed that he had received a vision of a 900 foot tall Jesus, who commanded him to build a hospital on the campus of Oral Roberts University.

Shay’s (Harvard Sq.), Blue Sands (Downtown BOS), The Rathskeller (Kenmore Sq.) and the Waltham Tavern (SoEnd) were other classics, to name a few – oh, and the Brendan Behan (JP) … I even loved to go to the Top of the Hub every now and then.

“The best performance in the last week of the Florida Dance Festival came from Gerda König. She took the kind of physical and emotional risks that make for exciting dance.” - The Miami Herald
