So the Spam Allstars did a gig at Tobacco Road last night, Adams (guitar) last gig in MIA before he heads out to LA. Godspeed!I did my “merchandise” thing and they had a big crowd, another great night all-around …

Lenox & 13th / Saturday April 26 - 12:31am:I was on my way home, after a canceled Dwarves show (!), when I discovered that the Orange Shrine had been visited by unseen forces that managed to escape any local detection. Clever powers are at force here … the neighborhood has been plagued with a recent fear . UPDATE: Saturday April 26 - 1:30pmAs the sun runs its daily arc, the quiet neighborhood appears intent on perserving it’s utopian climate. It looks as if  the Orange Shrine has “shifted”, 2 have been turned over. Even the birds avoid this fruit that has been placed by the hand of … Evil?  Is this a sign of the Apocolypse – 3.5 oranges with “Sprinkles” (”Jimmies” – if you’re from New England)? Maybe I should be studying the color patterns more closely. It almost looks like a celestial “Orion” patteren … the mystery slowly unfolds.

UPDATE: Saturday, April 26 – 6:30pm One Left up, one left down … sprinkles everywhere. 

So … I was going to Lincoln Road to look for some Vans (on sale?) and then head over to Radio Shack to buy a new “Y” cable (1/8″ > 2x RCA). At the start of my little journey from Lenox Ave to Lincoln I stumbled upon this little shrine - a local offering (or a homeless person with a creative flair?). I was tempted to keep the block (13th & Lenox) under surveillance, so I could get to the bottom of the mysterious fruit sacrifice. I may go by later today and check on the status of the “Orange with Sprinkles” (aka: Jimmies). Stand by!

My Bloody Valentine will play its first U.S. show in 16 years as part of the All Tomorrow’s Parties festival, set for Sept. 19-21 in Monticello, N.Y.

Built To Spill, Tortoise, the Meat Puppets, Polvo and Shellac are also on the bill.

April 18-20, 2008 –  So I went with the Spam Allstars down to to the Green Parrot in Key West Fri/Sun and then up to the Lorelei at Islamorada (2 hour drive) on Saturday for a wedding in between. I was a “roadie” and sold merchandise during the sets. Always a blast to travel with the band, plus they get treated like gods in Key West. The Green Parrot sets records every time they play – plus a huge turnout Friday and Sunday. Here’s a few photos to give you a sense of what “life on the road” is like with the Spam Allstars … (Did I mention the “Nautilimo”?)
