I remember sneaking into sound check and listening to A Certain Ratio & New Order … only being caught towards the end, and when asked to leave, I inquired about a guest list. I think they put me + 2 … great night!

So as some of you may know … the Super Bowl is in town this weekend, supplying South Beach with both Saint & Colt revelers from all over. Here some various folk showing their support …

So I got another panoramic under the MacArthur Causeway on a rainy Sunday, watching the Celebrity Cruise Lines Constellation turning around quickly in the harbor …

While under the bridge, I discovered this odd visual … all these pylons covered with “faux” Dunkin’ Doughnut stickers? As you can see it’s the same font/colors scheme as Dunkin’ Donuts set with jumbled phrases, i.e.: “KIN’ DO IT”, “KIN’ DO ATTITUDE”, “I KIN’ KIN’ YOU”, etc. Looked freshly made … maybe an Art Basel (Dec ‘09) leftover? Definitely caught my attention …

It all started with a basketball game on Sunday at UM – Vs. Virginia Tech – with friend (and UM English Teacher) Melissa … my first college basketball game, lots of cheerleaders (3 different “squads”!) and cheering. I guess it al seemed to work because the “Canes” won!

Here’s a nice shot of the Miami Beach Community Church when I was on Lincoln Road a few days ago …

Carl G. Fisher, at the encouragement of his wife Jane, gave the three lots on which the church was built.

The Sanctuary was ready for occupancy on the second Sunday in January, 1921. The church organized with 27 charter members on February. 7, 1921, and the building was dedicated on Palm Sunday, March 20, 1921.

The first minister – The Rev. Dr. Elisha King – oversaw the church from 1921-1940. In 1926 a hurricane flooded most of the church, destroying the hymn books, piano and organ. In addition, the pages of the altar Bible were ripped out up to the Gospel of John!

… I saw the Tibetan Monks chanting here years ago.

Saturday had a nice warm breezy feel to it – but I think the temperature gauge was stuck in the 90’s, felt more like 80’s …

This was taken when I passed the Art Institute/Miami on Biscayne Boulevard …

And a shot of the (SoFi) nightclub Amnesia – now closed thanks to a bunch of old rich folk (?) who didn’t like foam parties and loud music … go figure?
